Thriftspiration.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I'm getting rid of my old "teenage" (literally) wardrobe...and trying to grow into something much more mature.

Something that says... "I'm a woman, I'm kind of a badass and I'm kind of domesticated."

Classy.
Edgy.
Feminine.

I think a lot of my problem is not knowing my style. Putting it into words like that makes it a whole lot easier for me to identify my style.

I'm definitely going to try to thrift a broken in denim jacket. A well cut, good fitting, feels-like-home denim jacket. I have a dress in my closet that would look killer with a denim jacket...because this dress, I always wear it with my favorite shitkickers.

So I'm definitely kind of country-chic, as well as a little bit boho, and a little bit rockery.

I'm not quite sure where the Classy part of my description fits in...maybe anyone who reads this can help me pinpoint my style...since I'm going to post a few pictures of my Thriftspiration.

First off, In this image, I looooove the bag. I love the color, the vintage feel, everything about that clutch screams something I would want to own.

I am in love with this pattern. The colors are fantastic. The pattern is bold, but not too obnoxious, it is fantastic.

I love everything about this one. The vintage red lips, the vintagey headwrap, the whole image screams Buddy Holly to me. and I love that.

I love this outfit as well, however I don't care too much for the deep v-neckline, but I love how timeless this outfit feels.

I was just looking at all of these images, and that bag in the first one would work with every single one of these outfits! That makes me happy! It's a great start!

I honestly, at this point do not own one single skirt. I did, until i purged my closet. It was an acid wash grey denim mini that I used to rock in high school. That is definitely gone now. Thank god.

Holy Smokes!
I am a Novice, as I stated before. Never heard of Dudalina before...
However. I love that this outfit is incredibly feminine, but totally functional.

This is so vintage. So classy, so timeless...so tough, yet incredibly feminine.

Maybe I'm just in love with the whole Bonnie and Clyde feel of this one...

And this! This woman looks in charge of everything. I love it. She is powerful, and that is amazing.

Basically, I loved every single one of the outfits featured in their lookbook. There wasn't one that I wasn't turned off by. Wow. Incredible.

Any good description of my style?
All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)

Outdated, angry, and a mountain of clothes.

Where to begin.

I’m one of those millenials. I’m doomed, basically, if I don’t do something and fast. We are known to be a lazy breed, and I have, thus far, fed right into that stereotype. I hate washing dishes, I hate folding my clothes, and I hate basically anything that doesn’t revolve around technology.

Example…

My sink is overflowing with dirty dishes (because I love to cook, ironically enough)…
yet…
“Oh hey, yeah, I should probably pinterest how to wash dishes faster and more efficiently.”
…4 hours later I’m in a Netflix induced coma. And the dishes are still dirty. Great.

Today I started a cleaning endeavor that I was not prepared for.
I walked into the bedroom of my tiny apartment, and found no floor. None at all. Where did it go?! Shit, oh that’s right, I’m too lazy to put my laundry away…
Wait a minute, how did it get on the floor?
Well, in my mind a good way to motivate me to put all these clothes away (remember, I’m a 23 year old lady with a shopping addiction-also, great…) I pile them onto my bed. Can’t sleep when there are 6 loads of laundry setting there, right? Wrong. Kick them onto the floor and live from a pile of wrinkly clothes until every laundry basket you have is full, apparently.

I really know how to push my own buttons!
Bitch.

Well, I am halfway done now, and I find myself more intrigued by what I did find, than the mess itself.
Please, somebody, call Stacy and Clinton. I need some style help.

I’ve been reading all these blogs about these women, really fashionable and hip women, shopping at thrift stores. I’ve always loved thrifting, however finding items I actually will wear more than for Halloween is a rare occasion for me.

Then today, I realized, I have zero fashion sense. None at all. I think I am a female born without that characteristic…and it makes me so sad!

Well, a person can always put in a good effort to change right?
And that is exactly where I’m headed…hopefully.

Pillaging through a mountain of clothes, I found, not only a few remnants left from my last boyfriend, but also an abundance of clothes that I bought in HIGH SCHOOL.  Why the hell are these things still laying around?! For one, I haven’t been that size…since will High School-thanks freshman 15, sophomore 15, and a boyfriend addicted to ice cream and McDonalds.

I also found an overabundance of T-shirts. No classy lady ever is seen running around in a T-shirt on a regular basis, again this is where I go wrong.  I’m an engineering tech. I can wear whatever I want to work. I choose T-shirts and Jeans. Every day. It’s getting old.
So today….I grabbed some force flex bags, and I began a mission that should have been done 4 years ago. I threw away a ton of clothes. Most of them were stained and gross (from working on my trucks and doing manly things & from hairdye) so rather than even trying to pick out the 5 things that would be useful to others, I carried them out to the dumpster. Plus, I  figure if I throw them away, I won’t rediscover them in my thrifting adventures that are to come. Do you know how devastating it would be to fall in love with something you trashed a week before?! Man oh man.

I’m serious though. I have very few things in my closet that anyone would wear.
It’s time I step out of this whole “still relishing in my teenage years” thing.
I’m a woman. A Mother. I’m a little bit classy, a little bit country, and a whole lot of fun. However none of my wardrobe currently reflects any of that. It shows a college girl, who parties hard on weekends and noshes on pizza on a regular basis.

The reality of it is that I rarely go out, as I have a 2 year old daughter. And We actually eat quite healthy, black bean and quinoa tacos on homemade tortillas, anyone?

And really?! What part of t-shirts and stained wifebeaters represents that?!

None of it.

Time for change. Welcome 2014.

My first thrifting adventure (well my first official thrifting adventure-the one that won’t result in old tea pots and knick-knacks) will be next weekend. I am going with one of my best friends. She is new to thrifting entirely, and I’m leading the way. Hopefully together we can pull off some amazing outfits! I will post pictures of what I find!

Wish me luck!
